To generalize in these types of situations where all of your big numbers already play fine, you try to make it so that all of your small numbers also play well. With this particular problem, as was already mentioned, if you play 2/1 your aces and deuces play okay but your three don't play well. If, however, you play 4/3 now all your small numbers play well.
