Let me know if it's not the case, but I think you are now agreeing that no ambiguity exists (automated or otherwise) for ranking plays with blots/spares.

Right. My procedural definintion of the 6pt Convention is now a three-step operation (rather that a two-step deal with exceptions). I'm sure that's what you intended the whole time, so it's just my confusion that needed clearing up!

I believe you are just stating (and I agree) that it is reasonable, desirable even, to search for potential ambiguities within the Nactation system, though thus far you haven't found any.

I am trying to untangle potential confusion more than I am attempting to identify ambiguities. When I am confused about a nuance, it can lead to two differing interpretations. You can call that an ambiguity if you like, but it's more with me than with the system. The owned points sub-convention of the 6pt Convention is a good example. I have no doubt that you had been aware of the potential for a tie between inner board points and outer board points, but nothing I could find posted at BGO described how to resolve such a tie. So I stuck my nose in!

Thanks for bearing with me. I hope that other Nactations students have benefited as much as I have. Hopefully, some of your explanations in these posts can be adapted for the upcoming edition of the Nactation Guide.

Mike
