Oops, you did note that the cube would only come back if there is not a double. But the question of it being correct to cube back to 8 is still open. If that is not a cube or just a borderline cube you can assume that the game ends on 4 as a first approximation for the take decision and then if it looks like a ver small drop try to account for the cube vig.
