Thanks for the excellent commentary, especially Stick and Matt.

My takeaways:

1) Race sucks but isn't hopeless. Race is your game plan, the best way to win

2) Contact favors the opponent, especially a few rolls down the line

3) Gammons favor the opponent, a small factor
