Problem with rule 1.6 Communications

I think the rules should have the good of backgammon in mind. Spectators watching and learning and enjoying themselves is good for backgammon. Of course, there's much more to attending a tournament than that, but that's the matter at hand.

Certainly all are welcome and I wouldn't recommend learning English just to play in a tournament. But all else being equal, do you enjoy competing against someone you can't communicate with as much as you enjoy competing against someone you can?
