...the usbgf used a ratings/elo system like the uscf does? a class a player will play another class a player, class b players will play other class b players etc. granted there will always be sandbaggers who will intentionally lose in order to stay or play in a lower class where theoretically they will have a better chance of winning, but that would tend to even the playing field somewhat.

what if there was a 4th class of players at the bg tourneys? you would have the elite class for giants and serious players, open for folks who take the game seriously but dont spend 2 days rolling out a move to find one .002 better than the other choice. intermediate for mostly social players, and beginners/novice for actual beginners.

speaking only for myself i would not have a problem playing in the open with a lower entry fee even if it means winning less. (if i did actually win)
