In game 4 of the Finals match between Gary Bauer and Ben Friesen, Gary failed to set up the correct starting position. He began the game with two checkers on the 23pt instead of the 24pt. Fortunately, Gary caught his mistake on the third roll, and it was corrected. Section 4.7 of the ABT Tournament Rules requires that, “An incorrect starting position must be corrected prior to the fifth roll of the game. Thereafter the existing setup becomes official.”

This is the second consecutive match where Ben’s opponent made a setup error that Ben failed to notice.
