Backgammon should be modled completely like bridge

Not only should our point system be like bridge, so should the organization, the running of tournaments, scheduling, rules, marketing....EVERYTHING.

The people who have been the leaders in backgammon have been myopic. They like the way it has always been and they are afraid if you make backgammon less of a money game and have people just playing for points and status, they won't make as much running tournaments...or that we'll lose the big time money players and gamblers.

Well, guess what? We've already lost most of them. What the game needs is more people competing for more of the joy and fun and feeling of accomplishment you get from having a higher rating.

Oh, and by the way, you can still have your money tournaments...and you will have a far bigger pool of people who know and play the game who are fighting to qualify for a seat at the table of the bigger money tournaments.

Why can't everyone agree that the more we grow the game the better it is for everyone, not just the top players and not just the current tournament organizers....EVERYBODY!
