Yes this is typical. We want to squeeze White off the 4 pt noting that we trail in pips and cannot hold our prime forever. We should leave a blot on an outfield point and hope to be hit to recirculate.

If White had a two point board I think I'd make some play that left two outfield blots, but think that is likely a bit risky vs a 3 pt board.

I am reading a discussion about playing 6/2 or worse yet 5/1! That discussion should be continued at BK as those plays are bad. What do we do with our next rolls after trashing our board now?

7/3 looks wrong as it creates a semi dead checker on the 3 pt.

8/5 looks to me to be the best way to break an outside point and then I clearly prefer 3/2 to 2/1 as I want to stay off my ace pt for now, and since it won't be hard to fill in the 3 pt next roll, often leaving an outfield blot on purpose.

8/5 3/2 and I am not terrified of 44 as there's still decent contact.
