Pay now or later?

Who am I playing? Against a top class player, I'd pay now, 16/5. Then it goes Double, take, and I will hope to get missed.

Against a less strong player, I'd play safe. Then it should go no double, and my opponent would have a lot of chances to make cube mistakes and checker play mistakes, because both cube decisions and checker plays are not trivial from here.

I think with optimal play, paying now is a bit better than staying put.
