Clarification required: 2.2.6 Intra-Match-Breaks

I seek clarification on the TOURNAMENT BACKGAMMON RULES and STANDARDS GUIDE, clause 2.2.6 relating to Intra-Match Breaks. Is the 10 min break each player is allotted to occur separately or simultaneously (ie, shared break of 10 mins). In other words, is the maximum length of break(s) 20 mins or 10 mins?

"2.2.6 INTRA-MATCH BREAKS

The Tournament Director shall determine and post rules for breaks. Unless otherwise stated, each player is allowed only 1 break of up to 10 minutes during a match. Breaks must be between games. Punctual return from breaks is just as important as prompt starts; abuses must be reported and penalty points assigned. During breaks there will be no discussion of backgammon strategy and no access to electronic equipment, written material, or coaching. When a break starts, both players should write down the time the break has begun so there is no question about a player being late. If clocks are in use, the remaining time on each player’s clock must be recorded and agreed to prior to the players leaving the table."
