The resurgance of backgammon/Bob is right

Bob is right. Those games have a lot more people without the gambling.
But those games are not backgammon. The doubling cube and the risk of gammons and backgammons make backgammon a great gambling game.
Bridge is also a great gambling game...but it's too easy to cheat and almost impossible to catch.
Chess is a horrible gambling game, because there is no luck factor you may as well give most of the games to the better player. Now, get two players that are close to equal, add a doubling cube, and you've got a great gambling game.
I am not talking about what makes games or sports popular, I'm talking about what has and will make backgammon more popular.
