David LeiboWitz was a very fine player and would have been a Giant had he stuck with backgammon. He once won 6 figures in a single night from famous Memphis gambler Hugh 'Blackie' Allan. Blackie was infamous for his gambling exploits, including huge money tennis matches against Bobby Riggs, with Riggs having various handicaps. Riggs once used a broom and had 10 chairs placed on his side of the court.
