I still suspect that your system will converge to the same thing, within the margin of error that any measurement system has.

As for speed of convergence, which Bob Koca also mentioned, I'm first of all not sure that the difference in speed of convergence is all that large. But if we assume for the sake of argument that Method X converges slightly faster than Method Y, then I grant that this is a valid point in favor of Method X. However, I believe that having too many "standards" to choose from is much more annoying than having a slightly slower convergence rate.
