DEAD CUBE RULE

We had a big fight in our chouette a few years ago that illustrates the point...

In my opinion, this is pretty sick. Chouettes are supposed to be fun and social first and foremost. It's why the pip count is generally public knowledge, why legal moves are played and everyone is expected to correct them, and why this move enforcing the "picked up dice before picking up the checker" rule when everyone in the world was hitting the checker is wrong. I would not even hesitate to allow my opponent to hit the checker even if it was an actual ABT match nevertheless in a chouette. (working under the same assumptions that we have here, which is that the player knew he was hitting) If somehow I was the one who momentarily forgot to pick up the checker in a chouette and it was forced to stand I would leave and likely never come back. Now, you're not going to miss me being in the chouette I'm sure but can you imagine if you did this to your fish and they swam away?

What if you were playing heads up against a huge regular guppy and he did this, would you force his play to stand? No way in hell which means you have a leniency point and don't really believe this rule should be as hard coded as you pretended it to be in the chouette situation.
