When the opener slots the five point and you roll 21 or 51 (you hit with 41 of course) the fundamental play is to counter-slot. This is true on all combinations EXCEPT 21$-51. Both Snowie and GNU prefer to split. Note that the one pip racing deficit in this position is the best possible standing in the race that responder can have with one of these two rolls. The race is at least a partial explanation for the splitting preference. And, it is a good way to remember this exception to the fundamental rule – Slot / Counterslot
