Another Rule 1.5 interpretation problem

Last time I played Tom Meyer (haven't seen him at ABT events in a couple years) he was writing down his score in "away" notation. E.g. when I wrote down the score as 3 to 3 in a seven point match, he wrote it down -4, -4. I thought that was a pretty neat concept. But when I mentioned it after the match I was given the opinion by some (including a director whose identity I honestly don't remember) that it was in violation of rule 1.5.

Is it?
