I think the Jacoby Rule benefits stronger players at a fixed stake level because it raises the average stake level at which decisions are made. You don't waste as much time watching someone play on for an undoubled gammon with under 5% gammon chances. It doesn't matter much that there are tough decisions on 1-cubes that people might mess up with the Jacoby Rule. When you play to win money, you don't want the cube to stay on 1, and cube error rates are much smaller than people who haven't studied them imagine. Even though it's possible to make some large cube errors in EMG, the main advantage of a stronger player usually comes from checker play. Exceptions involve players who make terrible cube decisions *on large cubes* not on centered cubes.
