Built-in advantage?

From a NYTimes article:

Or, in Nadal’s case, develop one. Nadal, a natural right-hander, is coached by his paternal uncle, Toni, a former table-tennis player and club tennis professional. Until Nadal was 10, he used two hands on both sides. At Toni Nadal’s suggestion, he dropped one hand while hitting off the left side and started playing left-handed.

Ten Grand Slam singles titles later, Nadal has fielded so many dominant-hand questions that they now put him on the defensive, not unlike a Federer serve to his backhand on the right side of court.

“The thing that everybody say, ‘Well, you have your forehand against the backhand of the righty,’ ” Nadal said. “But the righty have the forehand against the backhand of the lefty. The outside slice, outside serve against the backhand, the righty have the same on the deuce. Seriously, the only thing is probably you play less times against lefties than righties. That’s the only advantage.”
