What most people don't understand about betting against the house is that they don't even need the odds in their favor to win. They could flip coins with you and pay 50/50 and you would lose in the long run. Why? Because you never quit when you win...even if you think you quit, you eventually come back and keep coming back until you lose it back, and you will always run out of money before they do. And that is their biggest edge.

Playing skill games for money, like backgammon and poker, is not gambling if you are better than your opponents. When you are the better player, the only gambling is if you risk playing in crooked games or with people who don't pay when they lose.
