"The coverage was very poor compared to the brilliant London Open earlier this year."

The London Open had absolutely magnificent coverage, agreed! I watched every minute of it. To be able to provide a professionally produced broadcast for the duration of the World Championship - not including the Monte Carlo Open - I estimate that we would need to raise approximately $9,000 (1,000 Euros per day, minimum).

"The final started 75 minutes late, and they were still adjusting the board and peripheral equipment to fit the picture into the First game! It was very disappointing to not have commentary as well, if backgammon has any future as a spectator sport insightful commentary is simply needed to create interest."

To the best of my knowledge, the reason the commentary could not be simultaneously streamed was due to the distance between the playing room and the room where the commentary was being given. Ongoing renovations at the Fairmont caused the World Championship to be held in a different set of meeting rooms than have been used in the past. This distance exceeded what was able to be handled via the wireless mic. Attempts at trying to stream the commentary were likely part of what caused the final to start late, however, that is not to say testing could not have been done earlier. I agree that starting the final on time is of extreme importance.

I definitely appreciate your comments and will bring your suggestions to the attention of the World Championship organizers.

Thank you.
