aftermath

I think there are practicalities at play here.
Blame - is it the OC? The receiver? The QB? The HC?
The call - Time is important here, 26 seconds, one timeout - you can really get messy with time especially if you run it first. I think in a hurry you can run the 3 plays (if needed), but with personnel challenges and only one timeout, you may be limiting your options if you dont pass on the 1st of 3 attempts. Remember the Patriots will be doing everything they can to mess up the offense during each of these 3 plays. They are also all going to charge at Lynch - no question.
Like everyone else, I screamed at the TV "You can't NOT run the ball here!!", but in retrospect, I understand there's more to it.
Personally, I would still have preferred a running play - QB play action, with Wilson taking off with it (Wilson does it quite well).
The aftermath is interesting. Pete Carroll takes the blame on the call, Lynch suddenly is all about the team, the OC blames the receiver, everyone and their dog blames the OC, and really, it wasn't necessarily a bad call, just different. Remember the same OC got this offense to the superbowl too.
I think the OC should take some serious heat for not handling the situation as well as he should have. Not for his play call.
I still think it should have been a running play first, then a timeout on a miss, then maybe pass, maybe run. But, I'm not an offensive coordinator, so I dont get to make those calls.
