Classy move forfeiting the side events, and letting someone else win. I have not heard of that before.

Along those lines, I reached the semi-final of the Seniors and had to wait more than a day for Kit to play Doug Mayfield to determine my opponent. Meanwhile, John Bird had made the finals and was waiting, and waiting, and waiting. Then he needed to leave and asked for some kind of fair settlement. Right before I was to play the SF with Mayfield, we agreed to split the $1440 prize pool with John, but asked for a $740 share at which point he could leave. He readily agreed and shook my hand while thanking me for the hedge. I don't know if it was fair, but good will prevailed, and that is more important.

Maybe Bill should just have to add another day to his tournaments like Howard Markowitz does with Vegas. It will be harder and more work for him, but that is the price you have to pay when you have a hot item on your shelf!
