It will always be subjective and I contend that is a good thing.

We can determine, to a high degree of confidence, who are the best technical players according to XG. But the best technical players do not necessarily have the best results.

There are some very great players, though not elite PR players, who have wonderful results.

There is more to winning and being the best player of the game than simply being the best PR player in the game.

Results matter. Winning is why we play. The trophies and cash, with rare exceptions, go to score-based winners.
