The smaller box you have now is very nice and is not loud a you stated, and the dice do pass through it nicely and IMO as random as possible.

i'm 50/50 on on box's or cup's, either way is fine.

what i dont like is using a cup to drop the dice into the box, as sometimes i forget and roll as normal with the cup, just a habit i suppose. There is no reason to not to just drop the dice in the box by hand.
