Hand-recording matches

If I want to hand record a match and my opponent objects, citing 1.5, then no problem.

It's a problem with me. Until the TD rules on it I wouldn't be ok with it. If the TD ruled against me it'd likely be the last tournament of his I attended.

While clause 1.5 seems a little broadly drawn (if strictly enforced, it would apparently preclude recording of any kind), I don't think it's fair to blame the TD for enforcing a published rule you implicitly agreed to follow by entering the tournament.
