What does fair have to do with it? Stick should attend tournaments he wants to attend and no others.

Sure. But the rule is clear enough that any impartial TD would be obligated to rule in favour of the party who raises an objection. So logically that would imply Stick shouldn't want to attend any tournaments at all under the current US tournament rules. I suspect that isn't the case :-)

I suppose it's okay to refuse to attend tournaments in which rules one doesn't personally agree with are enforced. But the way Stick phrased this ("If the TD ruled against me it'd likely be the last tournament of his I attended"), it appears he'd have a grudge against a particular TD for doing his job appropriately. And that isn't fair.
