Let us assume you would like to take pictures of match positions with a camera in your mobile phone: how can anybody be sure that you haven't already devised an image recognition program which can instantly churn out (via a bot) equities, pip count etc. of a given position to the screen while taking pictures ?

Kidding aside, the scenerio might be just around the corner.

Agreed. I'd lay bets that just such a cellphone app is no more than a year away. (I'm fooling around with the tech myself :-) Actually, I feel the backgammon world is, relatively speaking, still in the dark ages in this particular regard. The requisite technology already exists today; somebody just has to demonstrate the necessary will to implement it.

Of course, it's quite possible to communicate with an outside paty via SMS etc anyway, so the use of cellphones should be strictly prohibited during a match.
