Hand-recording matches

While it's true there are many low budget ways to record a match inputting the match is not near as quick I find as if it was down on paper and I could breeze through the transcription. (noting also, even though every digital camera or phone comes with video, for a few that still isn't as cheap as a pencil and paper) If you record via video you have to watch the video, fast forward, rewind, pause, etc... if it's on paper I can fly through.
I'm pretty sure this is very true, and I'll do a test today to see what the time savings is like. I'm playing a practice match against a friend (on a clock), and I'll give it a whirl.
I've been getting better at inputting matches off of video. Generally speaking, it should take you about as long as the match actually was to transcribe it off of video. That is, a two hour match should take you two hours to input. I've started to shave down that 1-to-1 ratio by doing some nify fast-forwarding between moves. If I had to hazard a guess, I think I'm down to 3/4 time. Looks like I'm going to have to test that too.
