1.5 AIDS. Once a match is in progress, players shall not use written, mechanical, or electronic aids except to keep score.
i repeat - Players SHALL NOT use WRITTEN.......AIDS!
Can we consider recording moves to be a written aid???
Although I agree the word "aids" could be open to some interpretation, it seems apparent it's used here generically to imply a device, or mechanism, that helps or assists. So in the case of "written aids", I'd understand that to mean using a pencil, pen, crayon or rusty scalpel to inscribe glyphs of a communicative nature for any purpose other than the recording of the score.
