Hand-recording matches

Should markings be found that suggest calculations, notes, counts or any other content not relevant to simple transcription, the match should be awarded to the opponent.
Ehm...no.
As others have pointed out there are a bunch of different ways to record a match. Suppose you mark down the time at the beginning of each game (or midway through a game?). Should recording the time remaining be grounds for disqualification?
The TD should ask whatever questions are necessary to ensure he understands the player's notation. The players are welcome to add any notes they like (such as times etc) after the match is over. I cannot see why time is relevant to a transcription during the match.
It would be up to the TD to interpret whether the player had included more information than was necessary for a transcription. The simpler a player makes things, the less likely a decision will go against him in this regard.
What if you write down the score as "-4, -4"?
This is a different issue. The score should be clearly separated from the transcription. Personally, I have no real beef with alternative scoring systems, so long as both players and the TD understand them.
Again, if a player deviates from the norm, he assumes the risk of being misunderstood. If there were any dispute about the score between players (and no way to determine whose record was accurate), I'd rule in favour of the player with the usual scoring system.
I've noticed some players score by recording only the delta between games. In other words when they record three games of 2 points, 1 point and 4 points, they write 2,1,4 rather than the accumulative 2,3,7, then add up the points at the end. This is pretty frustrating because it's easily confused (plus I would've thought a real impediment to decent AtS match-play).
