I don't want to get too far off here but I do think people are giving McEnroe too hard of a time. You have to remember he lived in a time when there were no challenges, there were no reviewing calls. You watch a tennis match now and often enough you'll see the lines person get the call wrong. Can you imagine knowing a ball is in on that playing level and having someone make the wrong call? Frustrating to say the least. I liken it to backgammon when playing with two sets of dice (no clock) and someone plays a different number than was showing on the dice and picks their dice up immediately. You're basically screwed and pissed because you know that's not what was on the dice but there's not a damn thing you can do about it now.

Yes, other people had calls go against them too that were wrong and they didn't react like McEnroe but people have different temperaments and he always stayed within' the rules and accepted the violations he was given. You're basically being pissed at the guy for abiding by the rules set forth by the USTA.
