I agree it's not a good thing in and of itself. Moves that give him fewer chances to err would be questionable anyway as "real" backgammon moves, i.e., they would typically not be as good as the bot says they are. You don't play them in PR backgammon, if they are really bad in real backgammon taking that into account. However, if they are close in real backgammon and also reduce his decision count, they are probably good in PR backgammon.
