You couldn't have underestimated Black's gammons by much if you head the advice to use ~8% in general for the taker and adjust up or down from there depending on how the position looks. Depending on how far your gammon estimates were off you would still be left with either a take or a close pass. Early game blitzes that are standard DTs range from 23% - 33% gammons. I would gauge this position accordingly. Still if nothing else your numbers would have screamed at you that you shouldn't be thinking this is anywhere near TG.
