In Response To: The good and the bad and the only fix needed (Phil Simborg)

Assuming that a bye (I actually insist on calling it a sit-out rather than a bye) is an advantage, how fair would it be to "reward" someone who loses rather than someone who wins?

Further thinking: A sit-out is a tool to preserve one of the 3 lives a player has. In early stages of the tournament, the value of a sit-out is much less important than in the final stage of the tournament. Since a sit-out is equally distributed to all remaining players in the tournament (every remaining player has to have 1 sit-out before any remaining player gets his 2nd sit-out), the top players will get their sit-out in early rounds (where it doesn´t really count) while the others will get it in later rounds.

Maybe this balance is not that unfair?
