I agree with this post. You have the "right" to default your match only in the sense that no one can chain you to the chair and make you play. But I wouldn't necessarily take that idea too far.

For example, deals which involve one player throwing the match are generally not kosher. If I offer my opponent a chunk of the prize money to default so I can advance and get the ABT points, that's dirty pool in my book. If I'm playing a stronger player in the money round and I agree to let him advance in exchange for a large piece of his action, that's not fair either. The fact that I arguably have the "right" to default doesn't make these deals okay.
