Art writes: A few top players may be more enticed to play, knowing they don't have to bother with conso or pay for something they plan to avoid.

Like who? Are there players who attend ABT tournaments and only play the single elimination Masters but not the Open with consolation? Or did you mean other people, who don't or rarely attend tournaments — who are these people who are staying away because the Open has a consolation?
