Conso optional

I occasionally (though not often) see top players at tournaments and learn they are not in the main. I haven't kept track if they are in the Masters or dropping by or what.

It's a moot question. If they, or anyone, doesn't like a non-conso option then it can be ignored. It's just an option. When you try new things, they usually don't take hold. But sometimes they do, so that's the point in experimenting.

I for one skipped a tournament once because I had something compelling to do on Sunday. Compelling enough to not be hanging around in the suburbs of a conso drawsheet, but not compelling enough if I were in the tail end of the main.
