It's time we had our own "Grand Slam"

I dont think its the relative player strength that defines whether a tournament is good enough to be a "Major" as Phil should have put it (Grand Slam is winning all the Majors - as it is in Tennis and Gold, and whatever else too). For example if a tournament in Cyprus brings in 100 players for the main division, then regardless of average strength, shouldnt it also be a "Major"? After all, if the players come, then the stronger players will follow.
I think by general poll, you could probably get 4 Majors to begin with. You would have to call it something "BackgammonMajors", put up a website, have each event advertize appropriately and so on.
So, for the sake of argument: ANY event that got 100+ players in the Championship or open division either this year, or last year could be called a Major. As far as I can tell they are:
Cyprus Nordic (99 last year, close enough) World Champs Istavder London Open Istanbul
That gives you a handsome list of 6 just to start with. Interesting how there are no US events that bump over 100.
