There will not be any prize pools until there is a coordination of backgammon world-wide, and that will not happen until there is an organization created. This is just one of the many benefits to the game that will be possible when that happens. It will happen eventually...it just takes time for the "powers that be" to get together and make it happen.

A prize pool and designation of major events is a fun idea, and it will add to the glamor of the game, but it's no where near as important as the other benefits I have already listed that would come out of a unified backgammon world in terms of marketing and promotion and coordination and rules and standards, as well as a way to help track and protect from cheaters and bad actors etc. etc.

We have taken the baby steps, next come some giant steps.
