Advanced Backgammon #185 -- Rollout

My reasoning was identical to that of David Presser. We have a questionably timed backgame (most of the timing is achieved via deep spares which we might not be able to recirculate due to white prime), so it looks like our main priority is to not let white complete the full prime. Hence bar/23 14/13*. Here are the results of the rollout:

White is Player 2

score: 0
pip: 124

Jacoby Beaver
pip: 211

Blue is Player 1

I can try to explain this post factum as follows: since white is about to complete the prime, having more checkers sent back increases our gammon losses. So, we should try to not let white hit a lot of our blots.

However, to be honest, I don't really understand that well what is going on here. That's why I was hoping some of our resident experts would explain this position to us.
