In AdvBG, Robertie argues that the 1-3 backgame is better that the 2-3 if White is going to be stuck on the bar during the bear in. Bagai grants that this is an interesting speculation, but points out that there is no real evidence for the idea. I don't know whether this would affect your choice to switch into a 2-3 backgame.

I like making the 9pt precisely because I do see Blue with a lot of timing problems. White's broken five-prime may become a full prime, and even if it does not, Blue will frequently crash his board. In addition to the timing represented by White's two checkers on the bar point, White can also potentially hit loose inside, and force Blue to hit back from the bar.

By keeping the 24pt, and entering on the 23pt, Blue gives himself two espcaping numbers, 5 and 6. That should be of major importance in his efforts to maintain his timing. Of course, White might close the escape hatch before Blue gets a chance to use it, in which case, my preference would be not to get hit any more.

I think the bot has this just right.
