Thoughts on transcribing

I no longer play online, so my only PR is live these days - BUT, I practice a whole lot against XG, but only that - I dont typically examine my errors and find out where the gaps are, I more just look at the play I made, and then make an internal statement about the right play - something like "blitz more aggressively with a 2pt board" or "dont be so eager to slash on the ace" or even better "sometimes they dont re-enter immediately, I dont have to double blot this".

However, what kind of techniques did you use to shorten that gap - I mean, is it just figuring out the differences in terms of the medium, and reducing its impact? Or is it more about the clinical aspects of the game, or knowledge of the race, what is it?
