I think the vast majority of people have no problem with your ruling. While calling for a ruling committee may have served you well in the process, as far as making Michel feel better about your decision, I am not sure it really would have made any difference, unless one of the participants disagreed with the facts.

You did not make the ruling haphazardly. You consulted many players and directors before finalizing your decision. Rather than being criticized for the process, I think you should be commended!

As far as what ruling you should make if it was not a legal moves event, that is far stickier!
