Touching an offered cube--sorry, disagree

When I am doubled, I ALWAYS pick up the cube and say take and put it on my side of the board, or I pick up the cube and say pass and put it in the center. I touch the cube both times, either way.
Why?
Because if I only touch the cube when I take, and not when I pass, I could have a reflex action that is a "tell." Let's say my opponent starts to reach for the cube and I start to reach for my pencil. He now knows I am going to pass, and of course, he will give the cube.
That will never happen if I always pick up the cube before I say if I am taking or passing.
Picking up or touching the cube, in my opinion, is NOT a commitment to take the cube. I believe I only take the cube when I either say "take" or if I were to pick up the cube and put it on my side of the board.
