When it comes to actually playing, I double these scenarios very early as you say except when playing an inferior opponent.

I'm not quite sure what you mean with your post.. Are you saying that you may go past the takepoint and then double leaving an optimal opponent with an easy drop, hence losing equity? If so, I can't really see that happening at 2 cube max. You never really get deep enough without cubing for your opponent to have a correct drop. I'm interested in why you say equity is lost by cubing close to the takepoint vs cubing at lets say 51% where the gain is absolutely minimal.

Where is the error in waiting? Assuming you don't go past the takepoint. The only error I can see is if the game turns in your opponents favour and find yourself facing a take at ~60%.
