Hi Chuck and thanks.

I thought first of all of possibly using "shared" or "separate" but in practice all breaks are "shared". Maybe the following wording would work:

"Unless otherwise stated, each player is allowed one single independently requested break of up to 10 minutes duration. If the players agree, they may combine their allotted breaks to make a single break of up to 20 minutes duration"

Personally, I prefer that for a match length of between 9 and 13 points, there is only a single mutually shared break of 10 minutes where players agree when it should be taken. If both players cannot agree in advance, then the first player to make a break request after (say) 45 minutes of match time has elapsed cannot be refused by the opponent. I think 5 minute breaks may be generally too short and difficult to enforce rigidly.
