"Chuck Bower already did some tests on dice rolling time. He made it 3.6s, I recall. I also did tests, and got 4.09s as an average, though I did use 4 shakes to his 3. Probably best to simply use a game clock, with a move counter; the time therefore starts (and ends) not from when the dice are touched, but from when the clock is hit. I used a board with no chequers, as it reduced the variance of cocked dice to (about) zero, and I could roll more freely. Chuck is a scientist btw, so his tests are more likely to have employed a scientific method than my own! "

oops I missed this post - thanks Colin!

I will search for and read the threads but it seems it would be fine to use the average of both your times = 3.845s

I can then watch a number of youtube games with various players, work out the percentage of moves containing re-rolls, and add that data to the above time. My initial wild guess would be 10%. (giving 4.23s)

That would suggest 2 minutes a point with grace time of 8 seconds while using BG Buddy dice.

BG Buddy does record the timing of every interaction so I can work out the average move time and give a more precise time saving for an average game/match with BGB dice VS manual dice.

Here is an example data set from my most recent London Player's League match. (a marathon match!! - not on clock but using BG Buddy Dice. We turned on the clock about 30 minutes from the end as the pub would soon close)

Match length: 11 points

Match Duration: 3h 50 mins

Number of games: 16

Number of rolls: 502

Time saved in match using BG Buddy Dice: 502 * 4.23s = 2123.46s = 35.391 Minutes

Average time saved per game: 35.391/16 = 2.21 minutes

match took 230 minutes but would have taken 265 minutes

% time saved for match: 35.391/265 * 100 = 13.355%
