Hand-recording matches

I don't think hand-recording is anything like a 'clear contravention' of rule 1.5. As we have gone forward, most directors have allowed electronic recording of matches, and this has never been judged to be an 'electronic aid'. I don't see how hand-recording the moves is anything like an 'aid'.
At the end of the day, I suppose every TD must attempt to unpack the semantics of the rules in a way that makes sense to him. With current tech, I cannot see how electronically recording a match could 'aid' either player while the match is ongoing. I can however see how players being free to 'hand-record' their matches (i.e. scribble whatever notation they choose on a piece of paper) could be open to possible abuse.
Personally, I'm all in favour of allowing recording of all types, but the limitations of this activity should be specifically covered in an amendment to the rules. As new technology is introduced, this amendment will become an imperative. See my other posts for more on this.
Your argument about 'gibberish' is trivial; any TD could quickly tell the difference between moves being recorded and match equities (or pip counts) being calculated.
You're taking my point of out context. I was suggesting that the average player might not pick up on abuse, not the TD.
Nevertheless, assuming the players may hand-record with whatever notation they choose, it's actually not so difficult to imagine a scenario where the TD is hoodwinked also... For example, if I represented numerals with the first 10 digits of the alphabet (a=0, b=1, etc.), wrote out legitimate nactation followed by the coded pip count, do you really think a TD would notice? My first play would look something like "21$d" - which when translated says "21 played 13/11 6/5 - three pips ahead".
The crafty weasels out there could no doubt devise much more complex and subtle forms of subterfuge.
