Game Colony does not require tickets to play. You can play for free, but the app will have ads.

The best android app by far is Backgammon Mobile -- it is based on GnuBG engine. It offers multiplayer option through Google+, FIBS, and TigerGammon. The downside is that right now it does not give you the option to chose the match length in live play and you are forced to play 1 point matches only. You can pay a small fee to get rid of ads in the app.
